The month of December is near its end, and Tohru and the Sohma boys are getting ready to greet the New Year. Tohru plans a grand holiday dinner, but in the midst of the preparations, she discovers she may only need a table for one.

The three Sohma's decide to go to the Main House for New Year's, leaving Tohru alone at home. After a run-in with Saki Hanajima on the way, Kyo and Yuki run home, to find Tohru crying over a picture of her mother. They then enjoy the New Year together. Shigure then goes onward to the Main House alone and celebrates with the rest of the family.
