I Got Dumped... (ふられたんだぁ..., Furaretandaa...) is the fourth episode of the second season of the Fruits Basket 2019 Anime.
Summary[]
The students in class 2-D plan for their upcoming school trip. Meanwhile, Hatsuharu goes on a rampage, but nobody knows why.
Plot[]
Haru visits Isuzu Sohma (Rin) in the hospital and brings her flowers. She shoves the vase to the floor, breaking it, and tells Haru that she does not want to be with him.
At school, Tohru Honda and her classmates are discussing plans for the class trip in the fall. Momiji Sohma comes to tell them that Haru has turned dark and destroyed their classroom. Tohru and the other Sohma members at school go to the classroom to try to rein him in. Haru suggests that they tell everyone in their school about their secret. He grabs Tohru, and Kyo punches him, starting a fight between the two. A teacher comes and dumps a bucket of water on them to stop their fight, and Haru comments that this was refreshing, appearing to be his normal self again.
After Haru meets with the school administrators, he apologies to Tohru. Yuki follows him to talk, and Haru tells him that Rin dumped him. They tried to keep their relationship a secret, fearful that Akito Sohma would not approve and keep them apart.
In the aftermath of the event, Kyo is teased for having feelings for Tohru and being protective towards her, which he is defensive about. He reflects about how he told Tohru to stay away from Haru when he turns dark, but he realizes that he himself is at risk of turning into a monster that might hurt her, with only his bracelet keeping this from happening.
After Yuki finds out that Haru has been suspended from school, he goes to visit him at the Sohma Estate. While walking there, Yuki has flashbacks about the abuse he experienced when he lived at the estate. Yuki catches a glimpse of Rin at the estate and runs into an older woman who tells Yuki that Akito is very disappointed in him.
Yuki finds Haru in his room playing video games, and Haru is shocked to see Yuki, knowing how difficult it must be for him to come to the estate. Haru tells Yuki that he will do whatever it takes to get back together with Rin because he loves her.

Trivia[]
- The episode title is taken from one of Hatsuharu Sohma's lines.
- The first half of this episode adapts the events of Chapter 43 and the second half is mostly anime-exclusive content. Beyond a few minor changes, the first half of the episode faithfully adapts Chapter 43's events.
- After Kyo tosses Dark Haru for attempting to hug Tohru and expose the Sohma Curse (getting everyone's memory erased including Tohru's due to memory association), his pupils can be seen as slit like a feline's; indicating just how strong his rage was not only for the act, but out of protection of Tohru (who is the only person who truly accepted him).
- Seems strange that the Sohma family, Hatori specifically, never gave the school any real or fabricated information about Haru having a psychological disorder; mostly likely bipolar disorder as an accurate cover.
Anime and Manga Differences[]
- The opening scene is mostly anime-only content. Isuzu’s dumping of Hatsuharu was originally portrayed in flashback in the manga while Haru was talking with Yuki later in the chapter.
- When Momiji peered into the classroom door in the manga, there was a flowery backdrop behind him as he spoke.
- The scene showing a crowd of students observing Hatsuharu’s damage to the classroom was extended a bit for the anime.
- In the manga, Tohru was in a state of nervousness upon seeing Haru in Black form.
- When Mayuko dumped water on Kyo and Hatsuharu, there was originally a flowery backdrop behind them in the manga as the scene played out. Plus, Mayuko was wearing a short-sleeved shirt in the manga instead of a long-sleeved one.
- While waiting for Hatsuharu outside the faculty room in the manga, Momiji was shown holding Tohru’s hand and resting his head on her shoulder. Plus when Haru arrives to see them, the faculty room was in the same hallway Tohru and the boys were in instead of being down a floor.
- The flashbacks shown of Yuki and Hatsuharu as the former vented were added for the anime.
- When Hatsuharu acknowledged he was dumped in the manga, he didn’t say Isuzu’s name at all during the scene.
- Much of the content past the ending of Yuki and Hatsuharu's conversation is all anime-only which includes Haru's second visit to the hospital, Tohru and her friends planning summer events, and Yuki working up the resolve to visit the Sohma residence to see Haru.
- Yuki visiting Haru in his bedroom was taken from a later scene in Chapter 45 that was removed when Ritsu's chapters were adapted in the "first season."
