Kimi Toudou (藤堂 君, Tōdō Kimi, "Kimi Todo") is one of the minor characters of the Fruits Basket series. She is a second-year student at Kaibara Municipal High School who serves as one of the two student council secretaries during Yuki Sohma's presidency, the other being Naohito Sakuragi. She is sassy, vain, spoiled, popular with the boys, and intentionally antagonizes the Prince Yuki Fan Club, though she is also known to be good friends with the vice-president, Kakeru Manabe.
Kimi is a fair-skinned teenage girl of average build and height. She is considered to be very beautiful by the people around her, as many boys at school are attracted to her. She has lower-back-length and straight dark brown hair, with bangs framing her thick eyelashes, forming a "M-shape" towards the left side of her hair, and a cowlick sticking out from the left side. She also has two loose strands of her hair, laid on her shoulders. She has big, light-colored eyes, and is often seen with a smile.
Her school uniform is a classic naval-styled Japanese school uniform. The uniform has a blue mini-skirt with pleats and ruffles at the hem, and a white and blue top with a jacket. She wears blue socks that go up to mid-shin, and brown slip-on shoes. This is the outfit she is most commonly seen in, although she is known for wearing other fashionable clothes.
Kimi is depicted as an outgoing, giggly, happy, and fun-loving girl. While she always has a cheerful attitude, she is also manipulative and a mischief-maker: when Yuki first meets her, she manipulates him into sharing chocolates his fan club had just given to him, and intentionally antagonizes the Prince Yuki Fan Club, not because she likes Yuki, but because she wants to spite the girls and feel good about herself. Yuki even describes her as a person who seems to deliberately pick fights with people, and can't understand why she wants people to dislike her.
Kimi is also a narcissistic, superficial, materialistic, and vain girl, who believes all men love her, and as long as they like her, she can go out with as many people as she wants. The members of Yuki's Fanclub describes her as a woman who "deceives men with her looks" and calls her a "devilish woman", which is confirmed when Kakeru mentions that Kimi likes to seduce boys who already have girlfriends. She often gives things naughty interpretations and uses sex appeal to get her way; for example, she flirts with a teacher to get him to give the student council a new whiteboard. Although she acts cute and innocent in front of the boys at school, she can be violent as well, like when she underwent a drastic change in voice and punched Kakeru in the stomach when he tried to tell Yuki about her true nature.
Kimi is noted to be quite childish, as she refers to herself in the third person and talks in a very cutesy voice and manner. Despite that, she often takes charge and is quite clingy, pushy, and bossy, especially towards more submissive people like Machi. She is also dramatic, selfish, spoiled, and believes that everything belongs to her, and that she everything has to go her way. She changes her mind very quickly and pretends to care about other people, when she, in reality, doesn't care at all; she doesn't trust people and quickly "betrays" them when her idea of them in her head doesn't match reality. Despite her eccentric personality traits, Kimi's actions are done more out of a comedic sense rather than out of malice.
Kimi grew up in a three-person family, and it is mentioned that her father was raised in a prosperous family as an elitist. Kimi explains the reason behind her behavior due to a certain incident in elementary school: a group of girls told her that she could get anything she wanted since she had her pretty looks (though Kimi didn't realize that they were trying to be rude). Kimi then admitted that she had always thought that as well, and with the "encouragement" from those girls, Kimi became the girl she is now.
